NORTHWEST
OPEN SPACE PLAN
|
|
With the tremendous growth
occurring in the northwest part of the valley, the city of Las
Vegas is embarking on a planning process to ensure that
development occurs in a manner that preserves a high quality
of life for the residents.
The Northwest Regional Open Space Plan is intended to
identify open space desires and opportunities and provide a
framework for development that accommodates them.
The
consulting firm Greenways, Inc. will be spearheading this
community driven effort.
Their challenge is to reach consensus among the many
user groups and affected agencies on a means to address their
various needs. The end result will be a plan that provides for the
preservation of view sheds and natural areas, as well as an
interconnected system of trails, parks, and other recreational
facilities.

Achieving
this within the context of rapid growth will require a
tremendous amount of research and community outreach.
This will be accomplished over the next several months
through committee meetings, public open houses, and thorough
review of existing plans and documents.

regarding this plan. Please
